TelescopeMan records the April 2012 meeting of the amateur telescope making special interest group- Texas Astronomical Society. The video was recorded during April 2012 and features two telescope making projects. The first is the 6 inch refractor which has been refurbished by TAS member Gary Carter, and the second is the 1960s Criterion EQ mount refurbished by TAS member Glenn Fitzgerald,
Dale Sander built a tube for the PARTS which were donated to the Society. Dale’s technique for determining the focal length is revealed during the video. Both projects are very near completion.
See the previous month’s episodes for more videos on these two projects.

TelescopeMan demonstrates a fake alignment on a Meade ETX125PE- using the 497 hand controller. This technique can be used to align a goto scope before the stars are visible.
This same technique will work on any of Meade’s scopes using the 497 controller such as theLX90 model with either the LNT module, or GPS; and a similar technique can be used with many other brands of GoTo telescopes.
TelescopeMan records the ATMsig meeting of the Texas Astronomical Society — February 2012.
A strange refractor project, a hand made solar finder scope, and the old Dynamax project are shown and discussed. Also shown is a way to the determine the focal length of a telescope mirror using a flashlight.
